|While I have spent the larger part of my life as an oil painter, following the ever-changing landscape of Kentucky, I have noticed the altered face of the land & shifting of values both imaginary and real. I believe this caused me to ask questions and become more interested in the history of these places in which I spent my time. I was eventually drawn into the history of Kentucky- particularly the 18th century. A time when settlers just started to come to this land. Currently, the history of the people upon the land interests me greatly and I have focused more intently on this subject for the past few years. I feel that, as a painter, it is important to constantly challenge myself intellectually as well as artistically- to constantly question, learn, grow & change, revealing a greater depth of meaning for my life and art.
